Before the Night

Each day life offers chances to partake
So I seize each day
Yet amid the plenty-  life’s told my heart it’s you I forsake
Thus I stand incomplete but in the fray
Before the night’s bitter wind I never shiver nor shake
Temperature alone I can keep at bay
But a deeper cold makes my body quake

Solitary while among many like the silently falling flake

Dark of night brings quiet of dreams- warming my chilled ache
But morning always follows and tis colder when I wake
By sheer will I lift myself from dreams balmy break
Off into the day- an empty shell I take
Wandering the limbo between dream and…. dream yet to make
One lost heart- cold beyond cold – crystalline smile- only I know is fake!
